It’s a rainy morning here, and I have been trying to take some pictures of a couple of new art pieces to share with you. I’ve just about gone through the jar of crackle paste with these two. Crackle paste is so much fun because there is mystery in it. You don’t know where it will crack, or what size the cracks will be. It’s a faith-building experience! I had a lot of fun creating these….hope you like them!
Beauty from Ashes
“The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, and proclaim freedom for the captives
….to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes” (Isaiah 61:1, 3).

The All-Surpassing Love of Christ
I had fun with this one! I created the crackle Cross with my fingers. I wanted it to run off the canvas in both directions, which gave me the idea of scratching the words “Wide”, “Long”, “High” and “Deep” around the Cross. I took it a step further with using texture, color and symbols to represent each word. For example, I painted the sun around the word “High” to represent that it is in the sky. I painted roots with hearts coming out of the word “Deep”. I used horizontal arrows to represent “Wide” and vertical wavy vine-looking lines to represent “Long”. I like the colors in this one, and the design is playful. This would be a great picture for a child’s room, with an important message, “And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power together with all the saints, to grasp wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge-that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God” (Ephesians 3:17-19).
