Give the Gift of Art!

I am doing something new this weekend. I signed up to be at a local arts and crafts show at Northwestern High School. I went back and forth on this decision for a while because of time, effort, etc. But I am so glad I made the commitment. It has pushed me to develop in ways I probably wouldn’t have without a deadline. I am one of those crazy people who likes to work under a deadline. It helps get me focused and finish! Otherwise, I tend to be all over the place…a little of this, a little of that.

I am most proud of this DIY painting display I made this week….in under an hour. I called around to local small businesses to find someone willing to donate a pallet. Goodall Lumber was the first to respond, so the kids and I went to pick it up. I sanded it a little, then added a little paint, added a little Christmas greenery I had around the house, and turned it into quite a charming vintage-looking display (if I do say so myself). Here are some pics of my progression:

I have been painting like crazy to get my Christmas angels finished. I finished Gloria! last night…I think she is my favorite. The collaged wreath on her head did it for me. I love that blue vintage paper because it says, “Merry Christmas”. I used the same paper on the wings of my bird ornaments. Here are some pictures:

Here’s a preview of all the different things that will be available at my table Saturday. I’ve been working hard to provide variety and lots of options!! I think original art is a pretty cool, unique gift option. See what you think. Something for everyone…..

I made my “Hosanna” angel into a Christmas card. I am so happy with how they look! There is a real vintage angelic glow around her. Inside is the verse from Luke 2:10-11, “Good news of great joy….today in the town of David a Savior has been born…Christ the Lord”. The other cool thing about my cards is there is a print of my Faith girl on the back of each one. How awesome is that? It’s like you are getting two original art pieces for the price of one. :) I am selling the cards in packs of 5 for $15.
