Faith, Fellowship, and Fun – that’s what a take he(ART) party is all about!
You pick the theme, the date, and invite your friends. I’ll bring everything needed to complete a mixed-media project start-to-finish, and a message to encourage you in faith. All my themes start with the message. They were inspired by a Biblical passage God put on my heart that ended up on a canvas. I call them “visual expressions of faith”. And my prayer is they will offer ongoing encouragement as each woman takes the message home with her art, and finds a special place to display it.
Mixed-media is for all different skill levels. No painting experience is required. I will lead your group step-by-step through the project . Part of the fun is seeing women create something that they didn’t even believe they could do when we started. It is such a joyful experience when women realize they are, in fact, creative – made in the image of our Creator God. All you need is an adventurous spirit – willing to try something new! (And it helps if you aren’t afraid to get your hands dirty in the process!) Mixed media can be messy, but I bring materials to protect surfaces and hands, and to make the set up and clean up an easy process.
Take he(ART) parties work best in groups of 5-12. The time needed differs, depending upon the theme you select (see below). I will come to your home, church, or small group location. If you have a larger event, please contact me to see if I can customize something for your group. I recently did my first women’s retreat on the theme of “Let it Go” with 120 women! Pictures are linked below for the theme, which was custom-developed for the group. I can also provide references, if you’d like to talk to them about their experience.
Current Themes: The title of each theme is a link which will take you to additional information and pictures of parties with this theme. This will allow you to see the work of others and get a better idea of what the theme entails. The pictured art below is my piece that I prepared and lead from for each theme.
Rooted in Love
(recommended time: 4-5 hours)
“And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge” (Ephesians 3:17-19).
(recommended time: 3-4 hours)
(recommended time 3-4 hours)
Be still and know that I am God”(Psalm 46:10).
Like a Tree Planted by Water
(recommended time: 3-4 hours)
“Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in Him. He will be like a tree planted by water that sends out its shoots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green” (Jeremiah 17:7,8)
(recommended time: 2-3 hours)
Remember: Poppies are associated with remembrance. I thought they would go perfectly with Psalm 25: “Remember, O Lord, your great mercy and love, for they are from of old. Remember not the sins of my youth or my rebellious ways; according to your love remember me, for you are good, O Lord” (25:6, 7).
New Themes in Development! I have several recurring themes in my artwork. Birds, flowers, trees, mountains. These are themes I would love to develop into a Take heART party, but have yet to try them with a group. If any of these interest you, please note it in your contact form below….and perhaps you will be the first to try it with me!
Look at the Birds: I love birds! I love to watch them and listen to their sounds. They remind me of God’s provision and His Word, “do not worry” found in Matthew 6. “Look at the birds of the air, they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them Are you not much more valuable than they?” (Matt. 6:26). I create collage birds, sometimes with nests. You pick, nest or no nest. Here are a couple birds you can choose from:
Move Mountains! Matthew 17:20 is one of the main verses of my ministry, “I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, “Move from here to there”, and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you”. A “faith miner’s daughter” is a woman who trusts God enough to allow Him to “mine” the depths of her heart, soul, mind, and strength. She is amazed at what God does in her life, the abundant treasures of grace, peace, hope, love, joy He brings. The mountains are the barriers that keep us from going deeper with God. Our faith overcomes, and moves mountains. Let’s make a collage mountain scene as a reminder of this truth:
Lily of the Lord: Lilies remind me of God’s provision, just like the birds. I have been working on a variety of painted or collage flowers to represent them. Did you know the temple of the Lord was adorned with lilies? One of my favorite teachers, Oswald Chambers, used to say a woman who allows God to carve into the details of her life is a “ Lily of the Lord ” (<— The link will take you to more on this theme).
Arise, Shine! This theme is near to my heart, as I have been speaking and writing about it for more than 10 years now. One of the first words I took personally from the Lord comes from Isaiah 60:1, “Arise, shine for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord rises upon you”. I combined this thought with Proverbs 4:18, “The path of the righteous is like the first gleam of dawn, shining ever brighter till the full light of day” to create this beautiful collage sunrise:
Weekends work best for parties because of the time involved. I am available on Friday nights, Saturdays, or Sunday afternoons. Cost for all themes is $35 per person for groups of 5-12, which includes all art supplies to complete your project. (Please contact me for pricing of larger groups). I will coordinate registration and payment with the hostess; payment in full is needed two weeks prior to the party date to allow time to purchase and gather materials. I am unable to refund for last-minute cancellations due to the preparation and cost involved, but I am willing to work out an alternate party date, or offer a voucher for a future party to anyone who had to miss due to unforeseen circumstances.
Please complete the form below to select your theme, month of interest, and contact me for scheduling. I look forward to meeting you, and taking he(ART) together!
